No Quarter is a critically acclaimed live musical tribute to Led Zeppelin. The band has been cited for producing detailed, accurate and authentic replications of live performances and musical compilations of the original Led Zeppelin circa 1968-1973. The bands set lists vary from show to show, some performances being a straight ahead charge of instantly recognizable album cuts, to more carefully orchestrated performances that are reproductions of actual full-length Led Zeppelin concerts in their entirety (eg This Song Remains the Same). You say "Theater", I say "Theatre"

It is always refreshing to hear a Venue Manager take the time to remind others which spelling of the word “theater/theatre” that they utilize for business affairs. When they do it is usually the latter, and such is typically a good sign. Such is the case with the Historic Everett Theatre in Everett, WA. Established originally in 1901 as the Everett Opera House, the Everett Theater hosted live music performances as well as theater and vaudeville shows. In it's early years, many of the nation’s most popular performers would take it's stage: Al Jolson, George M. Cohen, Nat Cole (before he became Nat "King Cole", Emmet Miller, Fatty Arbuckle, Helen Hayes, Helen Keller, Lillian Russell, Anna Held to name a few.

Some notable attractions/amenities of the now 800 capacity theatre that have followed it into the 21st century include it's magnificent boiler room (a steampunk dream), as well as an original Kimball Organ, the latest of a series of three, the 1st of which installed in 1918.

Bridging the Gap

Towards the latter part of the 20th century, The Everett Theatre was sent into brief slumber, due to circumstances common to most cyclical generation gaps. Out with the old, in with the new (or so most think at the time). There comes a point in each generational cycle, when the generation at bat realizes that they have been PUNK’D by Mother Nature. Realizing that they’ve just re-invented the wheel, everyone quietly takes a step back, places their gloves and bats on the ground and there is a humbling and peaceful calm that never lasts long enough. After a decade or two, the scoreboard is cleared, the past is forgotten, and the next team is ushered out onto the field. Someone hears “Batter up!” You have just entered The Twilight Zone. Worse-it's only been one minute, and you’ve got a sucker in your mouth.

Entertainment Value, as intangible as it is, can be measured in cold hard cash. Understanding great entertainment is an entirely different matter and of a metaphysical nature. It is sophisticated yet primal. “It” revolves around an objective understanding of human nature. Although environmental variables, science and technology advance in a linear manner, the fundamental principles of entertainment by nature (or design), do not change. Those that possess the ability to see and understand these principles (usually possessing a talent of their own), may in turn harness and utilize this gift as a means to livelihood. With enough left brain thrown into the mix, such livelihood bears potential to evolve into a multi-billion dollar enterprise. For more info,

Re-Opening of Historic Everett Theatre

On or about the year 2000 A.D., a group of thoughtful and caring community members began the slow process of nudging the Theater back to life (to the tune of several 1000s of dollars and man hours). The torch had been successfully passed and it was time for the Everett theatre to get back to business.
Since HG Wells timeline as set in "The Shape of Things to Come" looked to be either slightly off or perhaps delayed, the Historic Everett Theater decided to get back to its roots with respect to entertainment programming-"SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE". Although the concept sounds simple, it is anything but. Ask PT Barnum, who actually coined the phrase. He's been dead for 125 years now. Guess what. Nothing has changed.

At first glance, ceteris paribus, the now Historic Everett Theater seems postured to re-assert itself once again as a viable, well-diversified Performing Arts Theater, and one of the oldest in existence west of the Rocky Mountains.

Beatniks at the Fenix re-opening.

The New Fenix (Seattle, WA) will open on New Years Eve, December 31st, 2013. Owner, Rick Wyatt, has resurfaced with what could very well be perfect timing. It has now been close to a decade since the last incarnation of the Fenix (109 S. Washington) closed it's doors. Prior to that, Wyatt literally crawled from the rubble of it's successful predecessor, the former 315 2nd Ave S. location of the Fenix, destroyed by the Nisqually Earthquake in 2001.

The Nisqually Earthquake of 2001 was the first in a series of events that was hell bent on taking out the post-Grunge Seattle live music and nightlife scene, especially Pioneer Square. Throw in the Seattle Mardis Gras Riot that happened 12 hours earlier, the fall of the Twin Towers, the start of the Aphganistan War later that year, and then Initiative 901, the smoking ban passed in 2005. Collectively, this amounted to a less than ideal atmosphere to run a nightclub in. What the above could not finish, the economic crash of 2008 did.

The aforementioned symphony of doom would eventually be fatal to what is arguably the most recently recognizable “era” in the local Seattle Music and Nightlife scene. By the latter part of 2007, the Pioneer Square of the 90s, and the Seattle Club Scene that played host to "Rock and Roll's last stand", was down and out on Skid Road.

Will there ever be a ressurrection of the beloved Pioneer Square of the 90s? Maybe in your dreams. In this case the movie "Singles" may as well be "American Graffiti". Rephrase that question, Is there a future for Seattle Nightlife and Live Music in the wings?  

Fact of the matter is that we are talking about a Historic district of a Major US city that has for most of its recent history has been home to a sustained and vibrant local live music scene (or scenes), long before the late 90s, 80s, 70s, 60s and even 50s.  You don't have to hope for some kind of “New Wave” (that one is already taken). It's already in the making. Look out, it could be right next to you. I'll never forget a friends own brief but surprisingly accurate summation of the word, “era”:

"Watch out! Those damn "era" thangs are sneaky m@ther F_ckers! Usually they been there the whole damn time - one part past, one part present and one part future. Watch out! If you ain't smack dab in the middle of one, it'll fly right by you, ya know, like some crazy ass Bird!"

Time does fly. The smog that choked out the local Seattle night club and live music scene of the 90s seems to be clearing, at least enough to make sense of what's left, what to take from it, and what to leave, and where to go in the future. Initiatives to revitalize the business community in Pioneer Square have been underway for a while now, with some coming successfully to fruition. City of Seattle Employees agree that nightlife is an important factor in the economic health of Pioneer Square and the greater Seattle area. Others think of it [nightlife] as more of a key ingredient. The only ones left to chime in the subject are those that are willing to put their money on it. Listen. Do you here it? Ahh, maybe that was just a bird.

Although there are many definitions of the term Fenix, let’s consider a disambiguation of the term, spelled PHOENIX, the etymology of which is rooted in Greek Mythology and even earlier in Ancient Egyptian Mythology:

"phoenix or phenix (Ancient Greek φοίνιξ phóinīx) is a long-lived bird that is cyclically regenerated or reborn. Associated with the sun, a phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor." -(Wikipedia) .

Is it possible for a nightclub to inherently possess such regenerative powers? Not in the real world, but we're not talking about the real world.  In the “real world”, there was that one guy that survived 3 consecutive incarnations of the same venue, crawled out of an earthquake that took the 4^th , and then fired up the 5th one down the street. Yes the doors had to close, as did many others shortly thereafter.

Mr. Rick Wyatt is back for Round 6. Do you think he forgot the Resurrection Spell of the Fenix?  Well we'll see on December 31st, 2013. 

Bottom line: A New Fenix can't really lose,- at least for 500 years according to mythological accounts, and who wants to be around that long anyway?

The Entertainment lineup at the 2013 Suncadia Harvest Festival will include live musical performances by Baby Gramps (World famous Mississippi/Delta Blues Guitarist as seen on the David Letterman Show, the Motown Cowboys (60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and Current Top 40, Classic Rock, Blues, Country and more), The Rangers (Country, Rock n Roll Oldies and more), and Rockbot, which performs as a Live Karaoke Band in which guests may join the stage to experience performing with a with a real live band.  Variety performers will include Caricature Artist Lou Medina, Magic and Mind Reading by Nash Fung, and the "Giant Chicken Rider" brought to you by the Zambini Brothers.

On Saturday June 8th, Goodman ASB presents the Goodman Music Festival. This 1st year festival will take place from 11am - 8pm, with a music lineup featuring local and international Artists including Left Hand Smoke, Jennifer Lind and the Variety Pack, Lynval Golding (of The Specials) featuring Lushy and the Shy Boys. All proceeds generated shall benefit Goodman Middle School and be used to fund Student Body athletics, clubs, programs and future social events.

About the Artists:
Jennifer Lind andthe Variety Pack
Jennifer Lind and the Variety Pack Band perform a variety of Pop Hits from yesterday and today, with a repertoire that spans many decades (50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, current) and styles (Pop Rock, Swing, Country, Motown, Disco) of music. Jennifer Lind and the Variety Pack have toured internationally. Members of the ensemble have been performed on Grammy-Award winning recordings as well as motion picture soundtracks.

 
Perry Acker
Perry Acker is Award Winning Recording Artist hailing from Gig Harbor, WA. The band received national acclaim with their winning of the 2011 Gimme the Gig competition sponsored by Ford Motors. This success was followed the same year with the band's 2011 Album, Path to Freedom, which was produced by 7 time Grammy Award winning producer, Don Was. 

The band's fan base has been known to compare Perry Acker to a "modern day Beatles group", citing the band's pop hooks and colorful range of musical dynamics. Perry Acker has performed alongside National Recording Artists including Neil Citron, Paul Rodgers (Bad Company, Free, Paul Rodgers Band), and Vicci Martinez (a now National Artist also hailing from the Pacific Northwest). The band references The Eagles, Supertramp, Fleetwood Mac and the Beatles as influences in both the bands music as well as their high-energy performance style. Perry Acker Lead Vocalist Pete Johnson describes the band's sound as "Dave Matthews meets John Mayer with a little bit of Fleetwood Mac and Super Tramp. Put them all in a bucket and mix it around". 

 
Lefthand Smoke
Northwest Favorites Lefthand Smoke, featuring front men (and brothers) Ben and Will Mish features a style best described as " a blend of neo-soul and rock that is steeped in tradition, yet entirely original and fresh". The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan and James Brown have also been referenced as musical influences.

Notable highlights of the bands career include headlining Bumbershoot (Seattle's highly acclaimed annual music festival), opening for national touring Artists Maroon 5 and John Mayer and sharing the stage with members of Pearl Jam during a benefit show in Seattle, WA (Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard and Mike McCready). Original recording by Lefthand Smoke have appeared on Network Television, including the show ER and the Discovery Channel. The band recently licensed another original recording, Shine On Everything, to air on Grey's Anatomy (Jan 17th, 2013 episode).


Lynval Golding of the Specials featuring Lushy
Lynval Golding is known as rhythm guitarist of The Specials, a British ska band that garnered 7 consecutive top 10 hits in the UK between 1979 and 1981. Number 1 hits included "Too Much Too Young" in 1980 and "Ghost Town" in 1981.

The show will feature local Seattle recording Artist, Lushy (Dionysus Records). Lushy's musical style is a pop blend of original samples, Bossa beats, vintage Latin Jazz, surf, new wave and other distinctive styles that renders an intercontinental style and sound.

The Shy Boys
Local band the Shy Boys feature multi-instrumentalist musicians performing a variety of acoustic covers of hits by original Artists the Eagles, Santana, the Doobie Brothers and other 70s and 80s era Favorites. The Shy Boys have been voted "Best Band" by South Sound Magazine for the last 3 years running, and took second place in King 5's 2011 "Best of Western Washington" competition.

Tickets for Goodman Music Fest may be purchased by Goodman Middle School Students and families at the Goodman Middle School ASB Window or online. Tickets are also available for purchase by the general public online at the price of $25. Admission for Children 7 years and younger is at no charge. may be the longest functioning volunteer institution in america. Also, it is one of the largest.  Statistically, it is estimated that an American will have a "coronary heart event" every 25 seconds in our country.

Stunningly, not 1 minute goes by without an American dying
from such an event. The issue of coronary disease and stroke is immense on a national scale.

The American Heart Association has long been the flagship organization for the nations battle against Coronary disease and stroke. The American Heart Association not only promotes heart-related research and education, but provides support and motivation for People in america which are currently or have been struggling with the necessary changes in lifestyle and diet that are essential for getting on the track to better cardiovascular health.

 The Seattle Heart Ball is a celebration and recognition of the organization's success', made possible by a  strong base of donors and volunteers that have assisted in saving millions of lives.

The Seattle Heart Ball is also a critical and well established fundraising event for the American Heart Association.   In 2012, The Heart Ball raised over $51 million throughout the nation, which subsequently funded millions of dollars in vital research, programs and activities on local, regional and national levels throughout the nation.

14th Annual Run 21 Motorcycle Rally 2013

The Run 21 Motorcycle Rally 2013 presented by SE Portland Chapter ABATE of Oregon, will take place Friday July 19th through July 21st at the magnificent White River Canyon in Tygh Valley, Oregon (formerly held in Birkenfeld, OR) The event is a major national motorcycle rally that has been produced annually for 14 consecutive years.

Characteristic of the Run 21 Motorcycle Rally is the fact that it is a truly bonafide, old-school biker rally, consistent of fashionable motorcycles that have had a long innate history of enthusiasm with its respective national and international fan base. Run 21 has been categorized as one of the “go to” motorcycle rallies in the United States. Thousands of fans make their way from all 50 states, Canada and overseas. The local and international fan base is a major milestone from which Run 21 has come to cater to with a tastefully diverse and eclectic mix of fun and activities for all to enjoy.

Another distinction of the Run 21 Motorcycle Rally is a track record of producing consistently outstanding music lineups for the last several years.. For 2013 this trend continues with a lineup that will include national headliners Foghat, Eddie Money and the Fryed Brothers Band along with special guests including No Quarter (Tribute to Led Zeppelin), Appetite for Deception (Tribute to Guns ‘n’ Roses) and others. Cle Elum Concert Benefit Lonestar Swiftwater Cellars

FOR RELEASE, 27th of AUG, 2012

 On September 7th, 2012, Swiftwater Cellars shall host a "Concert Benefit Spectacular", featuring multi-platinum Nashville recording artist, Lonestar. The concert shall be the winery’s final concert of its 2012 Summer Concert Series, as well as the  second to be staged last minute as a community benefit for the victims of the recent Taylor Bridge Fire in Central Washington.

Lonestar shall feature the return of original lead vocalist and songwriter Richie McDonald.   The return of McDonald was followed quickly by the band's release of the single "Countdown", and announcement of a 20th Anniversary Album to be released in late fall of 2012. Regarding the forthcoming album, in a statement on the band's website, McDonald states "It sounds like Lonestar more than it ever has, since we had a lot of creative control on it. We are better together than we ever were apart. I feel like I am back with my brothers. This record was a lot of fun to make and a true labor of love. We feel that it’s the best album that we have ever made."  On Billboard.com: "Lonestar's multi-platinum history and huge fanbase affords the band the luxury to choose the right partners for its new record."


To date, Lonestar have has produced 10 number 1 singles, 9 of which charted in one year (1995). In 1999, the song "Amazed", reached number 1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 as well as country charts, making it the first "crossover" hit to do so in over a decade. There are 3 certified gold albums and 3 certified platinum albums to the band’s credit, with over 6,500 million records sold worldwide.

 The Taylor Bridge Fire that began on August 14th just East of Cle Elum, WA, destroyed approx 50 homes and 25,000 acres throughout Kittitas and Yakima Counties. On August 15th, during the afternoon following the start of the fire, a “State of Emergency” was declared by Washington State Governor Christine Gregiore.

A concert originally planned for August 17th, to feature Trace Adkins, was cancelled,  but with the fire starting only 3 days from the concert, the owners of the Winery were already in the midst of contemplating whether a) the concert should be cancelled or b) how the concert could be utilized in a benefit capacity. Prior to receiving notice of cancellation from Adkins management, they did not imagine it would be both.

Swiftwater Cellars announced on August 16th  that a separate concert and benefit would be held on August 17th, as a community benefit, and in lieu of cancellation of the original concert to be held on August 17th.   The event, titled "Battle at the Bridge",  would feature a lineup of local Artists, including Seattle disco cover band Hit Explosion, former Warner Brothers recording artist Alexis Ebert (Albany, OR) and others.  Despite what seemed overwhelming odds, the independently produced community concert, produced and marketed over the course of 1 day, went on to raise over $40,000 in donations, with a reported attendance of approximate 1000 persons.

 What the venue considers their finale concert of the season, is produced with the intent to further "celebrate the strength of the upper Kittitas county community", to offer relief to those affected and to raise enough in donations to further offset the now $8,000,000 in damages estimated to have been caused by the Taylor Bridge Fire.

The upcoming  benefit concert on September 7th is All-Ages. Doors open at 5:30pm, with opening act Countrified. TRACE ADKINS CONCERT CANCELLED IN CLE ELUM, WA DUE TO DEVASTATING WILDFIRES 

A statement from Trace Adkins:

With heartfelt concern for the residents of Cle Elum, WA who are currently facing devastating wildfires, I can not in good conscience stage a concert this Friday while the community is under such strain.

We have been following the developments closely and while the Swiftwater Cellars Amphitheater is not directly in the fire’s path, Gov. Gregoire has declared a state of emergency and reports indicate that the fire, which has claimed 22,000 acres, will require up to seven more days before it is comfortably contained. 

I know all too well what residents are feeling as they evacuate their homes. I thank God that reports indicate no loss of life. As the hundreds of firefighters, National Guardsmen and community leaders work overtime to keep everyone safe, I hope that those who have the means will also offer their help.

Three Dog Night at Swiftwater Cellars Winery 2012

May 12th, 2012 --  Veteran American rockers Three Dog Night will appear Friday, July 27th, 2012, with special guests The Beatniks, at the Swiftwater Cellars Summer Concert Series in Cle Elum, WA.

Since their formation in 1968, the band has released 13 gold albums and charted 21 Top 40 hits, including “Mama Told Me(Not To Come),” “Black And White,” “Shambala,” and “Easy To Be Hard”.
Initially brought together  by Danny Hutton and Cory Wells, Three Dog Night recorded the music of the best (and mostly undiscovered) new songwriters of their time including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams and Hoyt Axton among many others. The group’s eclectic taste, combined with their ability to recognize and record hits in a unique, distinctive and appealing style, resulted in Three Dog Night dominating the charts for years.  The now-famous name came from a story about Australian hunters who, on cold nights in the outback, sleep with their dogs for warmth. The coldest evenings are known as  a "three dog night".

In 2002, Three Dog Night released Three Dog Night with the London SymphonyOrchestra, an album recorded both in Los Angeles and at the historic AbbeyRoad Studios in London. The release included two new songs, “Overground” and “Sault Ste. Marie.” 20thCentury Masters: The Best of Three Dog Night was released in 2007, its popularity on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart a testament to the band’s continued legacy.

 The current lineup includes founding members Cory Wells and Danny Hutton (lead vocals), Jimmy Greenspoon (keyboards), Michael Allsup (guitar), and longtime members Paul Kingery (bass/vocals) and Pat Bautz (drums).  THREEDOG NIGHT continues to grow its fan base and develop new ways of doing business.   They maintain an aggressive schedule of concerts at theatres, performing arts centers, fairs, festivals, corporate events, and casinos. Since 1986, they have performed over 2,000 shows including two Super Bowls.
